Drainfield and Leach Field Installation

Drainfields and Leach Fields in Spartanburg

The drainfield is where treated effluent leaves the tank and disperses into the soil, and it is the most expensive part of a septic system to replace. Photolightcase builds gravel trench fields and plastic chamber systems across Spartanburg County, each one sized from the perc rate so water soaks away instead of backing up. On a tight lot near Country Club Road, a gravelless chamber field often fits where a wide washed gravel trench will not.

Why the Perc Rate Rules the Layout

A soil that drains slowly needs a larger absorption area, and a high water table may push the design toward a mound or pressure dosed field entirely. The percolation test sets those numbers, and the county health department permits the field to match. We also hold the drainfield at least 100 feet from any private well, a setback that shapes where the trenches can run on smaller parcels.

Our Process

We start from the approved soil evaluation, mark the field, and excavate the trenches to the permitted depth. Washed drainfield gravel or leaching chambers go in over a level base, wrapped where needed with non woven filter fabric, then tied to the distribution box so each lateral gets an even share of flow. The field is inspected, backfilled, and graded so the finished lawn drains away from the trenches.
